By law, all evaluations and,if needed,subsequent services have to be provided and paid for by the school district in which the child’s parents reside.
The parents’ official request in writing to the school district stating concerns in regard to the child’s suspected delays in cognitive, educational,language and motor development is sufficient to initiate the evaluation process.
The parents also have the right to insist on the timing of the evaluations. Utilization of translators in conducting psychological, educational and language
evaluations is an unacceptable practice.
